The Conran Shop

There are places I frequent whenever I'm not feeling at least a 6. Clothing stores only make me feel fugly. Designer bag stores only make me feel broke. And I just can't be bothered to remove my heels and try on pairs at shoe stores (sometimes).

The only kind of place that can uplift my weary soul at choice low points are home interior places. There are so many where I live; in and out of shopping malls, but to me, there is only one that is fail-proof: The Conran Shop.

I am obsessed with quality. More often than not, I opt buying something a little more exxy that will last longer (though I have also learned that not everything with a $$$ price tag is directly proportional to quality; I don't want to drop names in fear of a libel suit). It just makes better investment. At Conran, my dreams become tangible albeit until I leave the building.
In an unknown future, I'll start saving up for my second Eames chair. Wait for me, White Maple-dowel leg chair.

I love how clean and seemingly fluid the space at Conran is. (Disclaimer: I cannot be responsible for what you comprehend.) Unlike other home interior spaces, nothing is too confronting. Everything is positioned for an aesthetic purpose. Being there makes me feel like I'm more in a gallery than a shop. I would've taken more photos to be honest, but the attendants seemed a bit like snobs. And I'm really only speculating and being judgmental because they were all impeccably dressed and had very good taste in jewelry.

Why I am so in love with Conran that I would probably name my firstborn after it regardless of sex:
1. They have the best displays and carry the best names in furniture design like Pauchard, Starck, Eames, Saarinen, and Wegner. Can one of them be my godfather?
2. They sell the widest range of Aesop and Diptyque products. You can't imagine how crazy my hands smelled after the countless hand creams I tried on my skin. My nose may never regain its natural sense of smell after Baies imprinted on it.
3. They sell fancy fluids (I'm a fan). Also, I found an elderflower cordial there! I mean hashtag cocktails.
4. They sell things that you NEED and the things that you never thought you needed until you saw them. Obviously, the Cuisinart waffle maker is the necessity.
5. They play the best music. I love the mix of British indie rock, French lounge and European DJ mixes that they play on loop. It's as if strategically entrancing whoever walks in to buy something. (Not broke girls like me though)
6. They have a cafe(!) that sells a breed of carbs between rustic and fancy. Quite the one-stop shop, really.
Found my dream lamp for my dream bedroom. Reality: way too many digits for my soul's worth. But still, beaut. | I'm so in love with these Eames elephant stools. (sounds wrong)

========================================================================
It's raining, supposed to be stormy the whole day, actually. My dad is playing some 60's jazz music meant to lull even rebellious sleepers like me, my mom is busy making the kitchen smell like spam, oatmeal muffins and fresh kiwi fruit and peaches all while I'm on their bed, gushing over the Harper Bazaar's September issue, drooling over fall pieces I'm coveting. Be still my weary soul!

Have a nice Sunday.
