South Coast Road Trip Vol. 2: Common Ground Café, Katoomba

We haven't had a working internet connection at our apartment building the entire week. I think it's one of those situations when push comes to shove: I  think it's about time to subscribe to a private connection. It was another long week that involved a lot of work, feelings and eating the latter. I'm just glad that I can always take refuge at my folks' where I can always expect the best leftover home-cooked meals by my mum, fresh pyjamas and fail-proof wifi, too.

As promised, here's another set of photos from our South Coast road trip during my Aussie holidaze. We stopped by Common Ground Café in Katoomba just before checking in our bed and breakfast. It was as if run by what stereotypical hippies would look like: long hair only in contest with their beards and I could swear I saw at least one of the wait staff wearing a tie-dyed shirt. It didn't take me long to realise they weren't "hippies" but members of the Twelve Tribes Christian Organisation--their brochure multiplied all over the café was the big give-away. They had an extensive selection of pastries that wouldn't deprive even one with the most difficult dietary restrictions. However easy I am when it comes to food, it had only been a couple of hours since lunch so my stomach couldn't be bothered for occupancy. Instead, I broke my black coffee rule and settled for a flat white. It broke my heart a little to see the intricate heart-shaped foam dissolve but on a lighter note, it tasted wonderfully.

A mass of ominous clouds started to roll overcast but it didn't worry me. Not when I was happily sipping on my afternoon cuppa whilst being charmed by the café's The Shire-like interiors. I was also secretly hoping that Gandalf reveal himself but perhaps that's for next time.
