One Snooty Afternoon

The first art exhibit I saw was of Francis Bacon's in Tokyo last spring and we had caught it by accident and hungover no less. His works are truly remarkable and I found so much intrigue in every piece of his. It was also delightful how I could share my theories with a fellow conspirator whilst miserably pretending to be posh and cultured. Since then, I have had a growing interest in art, or at least paying money to see art.

I went to see the Pushkin Exhibit last Friday, it was my first time to go to a museum alone. It featured works from 16th century Classicism to 20th century Impressionism. They also threw in a few pieces from this century by artists whose names I could actually read. The works of Matisse, Chagall and Renoir caught my keenness the most. They were all wonderful and the pieces showcased were distracting enough for me to forget the pain my feet were suffering from being in 4 inch stilettos. I dream of commissioning someone to paint my portrait someday because I want to be pretend-bourgeois. Another dream, perhaps less ambitious and more realistic, is to travel to London and go on a museum crawl, having heard it's free and I am a Damien Hirst fan.

And sup witchu? (I'm really far down the other end of 'cultured'.)

UPDATE: While I sit here and dream, of course a rich and actually cultured bourgeois is making it happen. He's made it happen a couple dozen times. Read here.
