One of my favourite suburbs in Sydney would undoubtedly have to be Surry Hills.
I can't quite put my finger on it but to describe it in a nutshell, Surry Hills is like a suburb out of a hipster-chic + Nancy Meyers film (yes, I'm making these all up as I go). At least that's the impression I got. Maybe it were the rows of seemingly made-for-movie terrace houses or all the beautiful people who could easily be mistaken for print models but there was nothing I could be so critical about the place to not wish I lived there, too.
It's that suburb where you find organic food and hipsters aplenty. |
I've read somewhere how it's the "new kid on the block" as it's been gravitating the spotlight towards it thanks to its endless selection of choice cafes, bars and restaurants that hover over the entire spectrum of whatever it is that's culinary.
Thanks to my sister's incessant prodding, I was able to experience this gem of a suburb just southeast of Sydney's CBD a few times. And in all occasions, food was good though without fail puts you in a position nobody wants to be in: trial of indecision; shops were so trendy that made me question my fashion choices and the people looked effortless to create intrigue which is a paradox of incomprehensible standards.
It's frustrating how words are failing me and I'm just gonna sit in a corner and do a Claire Danes ugly cry now.
Meanwhile, here are some snaps hopefully good enough to stir some curiosity and interest in you to go see for yourself.

If I allowed my imagination to take me away, I'd say these were the perfect scenes for an Indie band's music video which would later win Music Video of the Year. |

It took a bit of restraint and a lot of reality for me to not buy these. |
